Fitzroy Cafe

Cafe, Ice cream and Dairy Retail

Fitzroy, VIC

Design Completed 2024

The brief called for a new café and retail offering to an existing micro-dairy located in a brick warehouse synonymous with much of Fitzroy's industrial history.

A series of existing partitioned areas within the areas was opened up to create one space for the cafe, ice-cream counter and dairy sales with a paring enclosed space for meetings and functions. It became clear that the cafe's 3 functions needed to be consolidated forming a clear divide between staff and patrons. In response the design called one long singular bench with various functions occurring along and at either end. Warm ironbark joinery offset with the existing industrial brick to make reference to the site but also reference to the bush and region of the farm where the milk is delivered from.
